We recently noticed a bug in Chrome v49 that may affect some users of KeyLines. Here’s our support team’s advice on how to work around it until the Chrome team release a patch.
What is the bug?
Chrome triggers a ‘hibernation’ mechanism when a tab containing a Canvas element is placed in the background. This hibernation swaps the Canvas element out of GPU memory to avoid memory hogging.
How does it affect my users?
If the user switches from a tab containing a KeyLines chart, when they return the KeyLines chart will not appear.
Is there a workaround?
Yes. To retrieve the KeyLines chart, the user needs to force Chrome to repaint the Canvas element. The simplest way to do this is by resizing the browser window.
When will this be fixed?
The Chrome team has acknowledged the bug and we expect a ‘hot fix’ soon. We will update you again when the fix has been released, and we have verified that the issue is solved.
We apologize for this hopefully temporary issue. If you have any questions, do contact our support team.
